Servita & Altera Digital Health Partner to Deliver Exceptional Patient Care

Situation

Altera Digital Health, a leading international healthcare IT solutions provider, partnered with SingHealth, Singapore’s largest public healthcare cluster. SingHealth aimed to enhance their existing Sunrise Acute Care service by implementing Sunrise Surgical Care across its flagship acute sites. This significant implementation marked the first Sunrise Surgical Care deployment outside North America. Altera enlisted the expertise of Servita for project management, PMO, training management and delivery, stakeholder management, and architecture services.

Solution

Servita’s management team worked closely with Altera’s regional management to provide PMO and project management services for the system deployment into SingHealth. As an integral part of the Altera team, we ensured that the right skills were assigned within the project team. We provided an expert training team to manage the entire training programme, preparing, delivering, and evaluating role-specific training sessions for over 1,000 SingHealth staff. This comprehensive training was further supported by convenient drop-in sessions to maintain knowledge currency and address queries or concerns.

In a solution architect capacity, Servita ensured the technical quality and integrity of the implementation and provided technical support to the management team. We facilitated a successful go-live for Singapore General Hospital’s main operating rooms, the National Heart Centre Singapore, the National Cancer Centre Singapore, and 17 appointment scheduling locations, activating Sunrise Surgical Care and Enterprise Scheduling seamlessly and without incident.

A joint Altera and SingHealth support team was established and co-located prior to go-live, providing 24-hour support for a smooth implementation. In May and June 2019, SingHealth’s KK Women and Children’s Hospital, Singapore National Eye Centre, and Sengkang General Hospital were activated with Sunrise Surgical Care and Enterprise Scheduling, completing the Altera implementation.

Results

Servita’s involvement was instrumental in managing a challenging implementation, organising and directing Altera and Servita resources, and working productively with SingHealth’s senior management and stakeholders to ensure success. Our team’s expertise in PMO and project management, combined with our commitment to excellence, enabled the smooth and timely implementation of Sunrise Surgical Care across SingHealth’s facilities, elevating the level of patient care and streamlining operations.

Following the successful implementation, Altera requested PMO management capability to help organise and structure their project initiation and delivery pipeline. Servita implemented standard tools and processes to provide more management control and structure to Altera’s project delivery. We set up a fully-functioning PMO with operating standards, procedures, tools, and trained staff, enabling Altera to deliver on-time, high-quality project outcomes.
