Servita Adds Former NHS Chief Exec to Healthcare Team

David Highton, experienced NHS CEO and Chair becomes Strategic Health Advisor

Servita, which provides a range of services to transform commercial, public sector and healthcare organisations in the UK, Middle East and Asia has strengthened its expert team with the appointment of David Highton as Strategic Healthcare Advisor. David currently serves as Chair of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and Chair of The Board of Trustees for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Ryan Tabberner, CEO, Servita says: “Our healthcare team has considerable experience and expertise in the successful delivery of both clinical and back office transformations, and we wanted to complement this with an individual who has deep experience of running healthcare organisations at the highest level; someone who is keenly aware of the nuances and pressures of delivering world-class healthcare whilst being as efficient as possible. We stake our reputation on delivering results, so adding a senior figure to help us see things more clearly from a customer perspective, whilst we grow our services in the healthcare sector is essential.”

He continues: “David will enhance our team by bringing diverse operational experience. By that I mean, David has real on-the-ground knowledge of working to Government policies, accessing funding streams, managing budgets and also procuring and leading major IT-enabled transformations from the client side. For example, in recent years David was instrumental and accountable at the highest levels for the roll out of a class leading electronic patient record (EPR) system and modern business applications at eleven hospitals and clinics and walk-in centers, which delivered an array of benefits to both the providers and receivers of care. David will help to ensure that Servita continues to offer tailored services that are genuine value for money.”

Along with his current Chair roles, David was previously the Ministerial Advisor on Private Sector Involvement and Public Private Partnership to the Minister of Public Health in Qatar. And, prior to working in Qatar, David was an NHS Chief Executive from 1994 to 2003, leading both the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust and the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust. David joined the NHS as a Finance Director in 1990.

Ryan adds: “David will be the first of our strategic advisors – we’re looking to add more high-level expertise – one for each industry we serve so that we continue to enhance the services we offer.”

“David Highton, Strategic Health Advisor, Servita says, “I’ve known the Servita team for a number of years and have first-hand experience of them delivering challenging projects that have unlocked value for clients. Servita already understands the healthcare market, so my role will be to provide extra ‘insider knowledge’ in the healthcare space; to assist Servita in assessing customer needs; to help Servita refine the company’s healthcare offering, and to put even more experience into the delivery team. I like Servita’s approach to transformation projects with a focus on successful delivery, taking practical action rather than just advising from the sidelines.”
